Overalls to dungarees

Image
A few weeks ago Adam treated me to a new pair of overalls/dungarees. I love the colour of them - they’re a bit different to the denim ones that I’ve already got and have always had in the past. The only problem with them is that they are designed as more overalls than actual wearable dungarees. What I mean by that is that up the sides there is just 1 button to do up instead of 2 or 3 that would actually close up the gap. This meant that if/when I sat down in them it would gape apart and show off my pants. Not a great look! The first part of the process wasn’t too tricky - turning the legs up to fit my little short legs. I got Adam to pin 1 leg at the right length then matched the second leg to the same length on my desk before stitching up each side seam to hold them at the correct length. Next came to fixing the straps to the correct length too. Again I got Adam to pin 1 to the correct length so I could stitch this across to hold it in place. There were no little buckle things on the

A week in Devon/Cornwall

Image
Saturday 12 September Today we were up early and ready for our holidays - after a long and stressful week it has been very much needed so we were both excited for it. We set off at about 8am heading for Devon. It was a long journey and both of us were ready to be out of the car as we rolled out at the Elements  cafe just outside Bude. We had a really lovely lunch of antipasti looking out to the sea from a lovely garden area. All of the staff were really friendly and social distancing was well maintained. For desert I had spied what looked like the most amazing rocky road cake in the fridge so we just had to have a slice. There was also some amazingly gooey flapjack as well so we shared a bit of each. By the time I had had that as well as a hot chocolate I was absolutely stuffed. We met my in laws there after numerous messages on the way to say how our journeys had been and where we were and had the first holiday drink together watching the sea and catching up. It was about time by this

A weekend in the Charlie Van

Image
We had another lovely weekend in Yorkshire this weekend. This time we stayed in the  Charlie Van  at Phil and Tammy’s. We had a really lovely chilled time - it was really needed despite our time off last week. I think I found last week having time off work more stressful than it was worth for the time I had off - perhaps it was not taking the full week off I’m not sure but the couple of days at the beginning of the week before I was off and most of last week was just a nightmare really trying to get caught up. We arrived Friday night to a lovely supper from a lady who’s started a Supper Club in the village. She delivered our dinner (some southern fried chicken and home made salads) to our friend house in Friday afternoon and it was still warm when we arrived to eat it. I wasn’t sure I was going to feel very full afterwards given that it was just salad with the chicken but I was absolutely stuffed. I even gave a chicken leg to Adam to eat and still couldn’t manage the pudding that eveni

Off roading and a walk in the woods

Last weekend we went out for a lovely walk through the woods and a bit of off-roading on the way. Adam looked for some pretty countryside not too far from us and found an exciting looking road to try the truck out on as well. It looked fairly narrow with a little bit of grass growing up the middle in places but not too bad. When we got there it looked more like this. Considerably narrower than we were thought - possibly made worse by the width of the truck over the tiny little google maps car... And yes, we were still on the “road” at this point. That’s more than just a little grass growing up the middle. There were some pretty good potholes as well going on (if you can call them that) That was really exciting. I loved it! Not sure how keen Adam was when we got half way down it and it started to get worse and worse but we made it through. He was pleased with the state of the tyres when we got out! Sadly the road wasn’t quite wide enough for us to park on the edge of the road to go for
