Lego bookshop
On Saturday the weather wasn’t great and obviously we couldn’t go anywhere so it was the perfect excuse for a PJ day with a load of films and a Lego set.
We set about making the bookshop that we had bought around Christmas time to add to our street that we’ve got going upstairs.
Movies to watch that go with a bookshop - Rio (it actually only has the bookshop in the first 10 mins or so), Notting Hill (only marginally less tenuous) and then we ran out of ideas so the movie for the final bag was Tangled as it has a chameleon in it and you’ll see shortly in the build that the upstairs has a chameleon in it. Yes, we really did run out of ideas!
Bag 1 went a bit like this
I always love doing the floor tiles and I wasn’t disappointed with the patterns in this build.
This only completed the very first layer really and a cash register is about all the detail added so quickly onto the next bag - I wanted to see some books!
I love the little book shelves and there’s the “Once upon a time” sheet on the stand outside too.
I am impressed they look like proper fairytale bookshelves with the books all neatly lined up on them.
Next was to add a mezzanine level at the top of these stairs.
And the sign on the outside of the shop too. These were proper printed special pieces which are always great to get in these sets.
I hadn’t actually looked what happened on the upper levels of this build so next time find out.
The first floor was a living area with a big grandfather clock and a little balcony with a table and chairs on it.
It’s definitely growing...
The final level has a pitched roof so is quite small - this is the bedroom of the flat above the shop & in here there’s a chameleon in a tank too. He’s so cute!
Now we’re talking. It’s getting there. Looking good.
Just the back part of the roof to build and add then to prettify the outside with the big tree that’s growing out the front.
Tah dah!
I’m not totally sure about the tree out the front but at least it’s bright and cheery.
We tried to start off with just adding this to the end of the street as it was
But then decided that it might work better for the nice, upmarket french restaurant to be up the end with the bookshop and houses that right next to a basic diner so we switched that up to the other end.
I think this works well now and looks pretty good.
We do have 1 more set left to build at some point which is the corner garage so this will soon fill the gap left by the restaurant and join onto the bank and laundrette nicely.
It was a lovely chilled day we had on Saturday - time for some much needed rest. I hope you all had a good weekend too. Keep finding things in the house to do to keep yourselves amused and stay safe. Have a good week all.
