Hanging heart decoration
I made this early on in December as a gift for our friends who run the pub we often stay at in Yorkshire - I didn’t want to post it until I’d given it to them and then went and forgot it when we went up to stay there with Adam’s brother in December.
I finally managed to pass it on at new year so here it is. I made a hanging heart decoration.
First I made a template by folding a piece of paper in half, drawing a circle one side of the middle and joining this to where I wanted the bottom to be. I made the heart quite long as this was how the pattern was that I had to follow. I chose two pieces of fabric with the same pattern but in different colours. The red was going to be the back.
The next step was fairly straight forward - sew the front and back together with right sides facing.
This is where the seam we made earlier comes in as I had to unpick the seam I had made up the back to be able to turn this around and insert the stuffing.
It ended up looking a bit like this.
I sewed on the ribbon in a loop at the top and covered the sewing I had done with a large button on the front and a small one at the back just to cover the stitches. I’m so annoyed with myself - I forgot to take a photo of the finished item!!! If I see it in the pub somewhere next year I’ll take a photo then.

Before cutting this piece, I had to cut the fabric in half weirdly and sew it back together again. This is to form a seam that will be opened up later so that you can insert the stuffing
