I finished my quilt - binding

Image
I finally got around to finishing my quilt at the weekend. After bumping the hexagon one up the list to get it completed in time to take it down to Mum L a couple of weeks ago mine sort of got put on hold. I was so close to having finished but I hadn’t attached the binding yet. This weekend was a pretty lazy one for me really and very much needed. I had Friday off work which I spent doing my cross stitch all day and watching Disney movies as it was completely unbearably far too hot to do anything else. Adam even had to retreat from the kitchen while he was working to sit in the living room in front of the fan. I managed the majority of the day in my comfy chair up in my craft room but there was no way I was going to sit with a quilt on my lap sewing on binding! Saturday was also a bit of a write off as we both had a bit too much to drink on Friday night so felt a little worse for wear on Saturday. We were giddy from actually having a dinner out I think. We found a food truck that had s

Forever friends card for Stacy’s birthday

Last week was my friend Stacy’s birthday so I decided to turn one of my cross-stitches into a card for her. This was a cross stitch that I had done some time ago but never really known what to do with. I found a card blank that I had and measured out a space to cut into it for the cross stitch to show through. I love this card blank and thought it would work really well as a surround for this stitching project with the flowers/plants across the bottom of both the cross stitch and card. I made sure that the gap I had cut was big enough for the stitching to all show through and then cut the fabric down to size so that it wouldn’t show out of the sides of the card. I stuck it to the inside of the card with double sided tape. And added a sheet of white card to cover the back of the stitching. Ta dah! I love the way it turned out and such a great use of my old cross stitch. As with all of these things I was actually quite sad to see it go especially as I think I did such a good job of mount

Quilt for Mum L

Last weekend when we went down to visit the in-laws I took down this quilt for Mum L. It had been a while in the making and I had tried to keep it secret on my Instagram but I can now finally reveal the full project. I used this charm pack that I had received in a craft mystery box a while ago. The fabrics aren’t really my cup of tea but I do think they’re lovely. After working on the quilt that I had started for me I wanted to give myself a bit more of a challenge than just doing squares again so I decided to go for hexagons. I had a template to cut them out which made the process a lot easier than it could of been. When I looked at them after cutting them all out I soon realised that with 6 different fabrics this wasn’t going to be very easy to make into much of a pattern with hexagons. I had a lot of the blue bedsheet left after cutting the back section of my quilt so I decided to add some dark blue into the mix to make the pattern and arranging the pieces a bit easier. It still was
