Bear tapestry finish

Another tapestry that I found that was partially completed from when I was a kid. I’ve got no idea how old this one is but it must be a similar age to the one I finished the other week. I blogged about that one here.

When I picked it up again a couple of weeks ago it looked like this
The best and left hand side of the covers & headboard were the only bits that were completed so I decided to start working on the rest of this after enjoying working on the gypsy caravan piece.
I mounted it onto the same frame I had used for the other tapestry that I’ve done then finished off the headboard as the first thing I did. I decided after that to start finishing off some colours so I could get them out of the way so I went on to the wallpaper afterwards and the little strip of yellow across the top of the bed covers. With those bits done I knew I then pretty much just had the 3 shades of blue left so I matched them up the colour swatches on the right hand side before carrying on the complete the picture.
The little blue patches at the bottom we’re quite fun to do to make the checkered design.
Finally I spent this afternoon sat out in the garden with my little man (do you see Henlow in the grass on the right hand side of the picture?) and finished off the picture by adding the black border to the piece.
I decided to add one extra round on the edge to give a slightly bigger border as I had enough black yarn left and liked the effect of it. I’m pleased with the way that little William has turned out. My plan eventually is to turn him into a cushion cover I think but watch this space. Hope you’re all enjoying the lovely long weekend. We’ve had some great weather here this weekend so my other plans for this bank holiday have kind of been out on hold to make the most of it but I think I’ll probably be hiding out upstairs in my new chair and playing with my sewing machine tomorrow. In the meantime - have a good one everyone and see you all again soon.
